ZenScape: Spring Lake And Tranquil Peaks Are Mesmerizingly Beautiful Live Wallpapers For Android

unnamed (7)

Developed by flowloop, Zenscapes are (currently) a pair of live wallpapers inspired by Chinese landscape paintings.

Spring Lake [Google Play: Free / Paid] shows a handful of mountains spread out over a peaceful spring lake whereas Tranquil Peaks [Google Play: Free / Paid] consists of mountain peaks rising above a sea of clouds.

Unlike conventional live wallpapers, these Zenscapes have relatively small amount of liveliness to them which, in my honest opinion, is actually a good thing. It gives a very peaceful look.

In the free versions of the wallpapers, you get only one “season” with no support for day/night transitions. The paid versions of both wallpapers lifts these limitations and gives you extra features like a junk-boat that moves across the landscape and an awesome addition: the scene gets repainted every time you reload the wallpaper so you’ll never really have the same live wallpaper.

I’ve been using the live wallpaper on a Samsung Galaxy S II (Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich) all day long and have fallen in love with it. Part of my love for these kind of paintings comes from the special place I have in my heart for Okami - an award-winning action-adventure game for the PlayStation 2 which has cell-shaded graphics and artworks inspired by the same source as Zenscapes.

It is not very often that a live wallpaper gets covered here at Redmond Pie. These moving wallpapers are mostly one-trick ponies that add nothing of functional value to your device, so that is why we prefer covering apps with real features rather than purely cosmetic ones.

However, every once in a while we come across a live wallpaper so very aesthetically pleasing that it becomes hard to ignore it. Zenscapes is one such live wallpaper. Check them out after the jump!
