Those picking up a brand new Apple TV 4K today will be able to take advantage of something no other Apple TV users has been able to enjoy – support for YouTube video at 4K and 60fps.
Google has enabled the new feature but only on the second generation of Apple TV 4K. It’s likely that the extra horsepower afforded by the beefed up processor is why the change has come right now.
Google first added support for 4K on Apple TVs back in October, but the lack of a 60fps option was something that was immediately noticed by those who had been looking forward to it.
The refreshed Apple TV 4K went on sale today and brings with it support for HDR content at higher framerates, again thanks to that new Apple-designed A12 Bionic processor.
It also comes with a redesigned Siri Remote, one that should be much more useful than the abomination we’ve been dealing with in recent years.
Beyond the chip and remote, the new Apple TV 4K is very similar to the outgoing model and it’s unlikely many will be upgrading from an old release. Especially considering the fact you can buy that new Siri remote on its own.
