Google is looking to expand its Google Flights proposition and value by rolling out an update that helps users know when, or when not, to buy flight tickets for that journey they may be planning on taking.
Anyone looking to take a journey that involves flights will likely look to find the best provider bringing in the most agreeable ticket prices. In the hope of saving some money, that will generally involve using different services or platforms to find the best deal, we have not really come across any service until now that has explicitly provided information with regards to the best time to actually purchase tickets for a trip.
Google Flights is already an extremely capable tool for those looking for assistance with travel, but this update will look to solidify that placement by adding this extremely useful feature.
In addition to actually informing when the price of flights are going to rise, as well as the number of days that the rise is expected to happen in, Google Flights now also shares and shows tips on how to potentially get a lower ticket price by looking at nearby airports or dates closest to the original that could result in a lower price point. This is most definitely a feature that is going to be useful to users, but it’s worth pointing out that it’s not guaranteed to be entirely 100-percent accurate.
The flight information that is provided to the end-user is based on historic flight data, and is therefore riddled with the potential to be inaccurate or out of date, but it’s still an excellent indication of what’s to potentially come. After all, when you’re spending that type of money on a trip of a lifetime, or just a local jaunt, it’s preferable to jump through a few hoops to save as much money as possible.
We all know what Google is famous for and what the company is good at, but it seems that Alphabet-owned Google is desperately trying to penetrate the trip and action market. This updated to Google Flights has also been joined by the relatively recent release of Google Trips, which essentially acts as a virtual and digital concierge.
This latest Google Flights update is rolling out now and should be available at google.com/flights.
