Want a nice, customized band for your brand new Apple Watch? Is Apple’s latest creation just missing something special before it truly finds a place in your heart? How about a customized band with photos of your loved ones on it? Or maybe just photos of Tim Cook and Bono doing that weird E.T. pose from last year?
Apple’s new smartwatch is everywhere right now, and with there still being a month before it goes on pre-order and another fortnight after that before it goes on sale, the news cycles are set to continue to be laden with Apple Watches. That’s no bad thing though, because it means that we get to find out about things like this.
Casetify, a company that makes custom cases for iPhones and iPads has announced that it will be making customized bands for the Apple Watch. The bands themselves come in two sizes – 38mm and 42mm – and will set buyers back $50 when they go on sale in June.
For that $50, shoppers can choose to add photographs from a range of sources including their own collection, Instagram or Facebook in order to create their very own design. In fact, they can even ‘enhance’ those images using one of nine different filters should Instagram have not sufficiently ruined the photo in the first place.
Made of polycarbonate silicone, we will have to reserve judgement on just how comfortable these bands are, but there’s little doubt that the potential is there for some truly impressive designs especially if you have a creative streak. Apple’s own bands are all well and good, if a little on the pricey side, but if you really must have a photo of your cat on your wrist at all times then Casetify may be the way to go.
We doubt there will be too many $10,000 Apple Watch Editions with these things on though.
