If you’re the owner of a Tesla electric vehicle who also wants to be able to repair it yourself, that’s all now easier than you might think.
Tesla is now selling parts for your EV online to allow consumer repairs to take place.
NotaTeslaApp reports that Tesla has been trialed the direct-to-consumer parts sales program since November of 2024 although only a few items were available. Those items included non-technical items like windshield wipers and low-voltage batteries, but that program is now expanding to offer more options.
Tesla’s Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) now allows users to order individual parts or complete assemblies, the report notes, adding that people can sign in using their Tesla account to get the ball rolling. Notably, you can order parts for vehicles that you don’t currently own which could come in handy.
At the time of writing this new parts program is only available in the United States but that is sure to change in due course. It’s important to remember that not all parts are available however, but consumables like brakes and other parts are on the list right now. No Cybertruck parts are available, however.
At this point it’s still worth reaching out for Tesla support if you need diagnostics or have an issue that you can’t deal with yourself, but this new parts availability is definitely good news for the tinkerers out there.
