Yes, Hellblade 2 Will Be Available On PC Too

It’s been confirmed that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will indeed be coming to PC. The game, announced earlier this month alongside the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards 2019, was initially advertised as being exclusive to Microsoft’s next-gen console.

In a reply to an inquisitive Twitter user, a Xbox Games Marketing GM Aaron Greenberg confirmed that the game will be exclusive to the Xbox Series X and PC. Greenberg didn’t specify whether the exclusivity would be timed or not. That is to say it is still unknown if the game will ever make it to other platforms.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is a sequel to 2017’s critically acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and is being developed by Ninja Theory, the team that brought us the first game. This time around, however, the studio is working as part of Xbox Game Studios, having been acquired by Microsoft in 2018.

The news that the sequel won’t be an Xbox-only title doesn’t come as much of a surprise given the Play Anywhere initiative announced back in 2016. While the program didn’t guarantee absolutely every first-party Xbox exclusive would find its way to Windows, Hellblade isn’t just any exclusive.

The game looks set to be a frontliner among next-gen Xbox games and a visual showcase of the upcoming console’s capabilities. It stands to reason that Microsoft would want the game to also be available on its desktop platform.

The Xbox Series X is slated for a holiday 2020 release. Given it is the first exclusive to have been shown off, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is likely to be released alongside the new console or soon after its launch.
