It’s been rumored for quite some time that both Microsoft and Sony would be hitting the shelves with their next-generation consoles this holiday season, but today’s slip from Danny Isaac all but confirms the planned release time for the Redmond company’s new gaming console.
Isaac, who operates in the capacity of Executive Office at Rare, was speaking directly to Geoff Keighley on GameTrailer’s pre-show ahead of the E3 conference. The conversation itself was centered around Rare’s Kinect Sports game, which will be one of the first titles available for the new Xbox hardware, and therefore will be present pretty much on launch date. We’re pretty sure that Isaac isn’t in any official position to give away Microsoft’s planned release date, but surely, excited Executive Producers are allowed to have the occasional slip of the tongue when demoing their new product?
The Xbox One related announcement comes direct from Keighley’s Twitter stream, who is host of the GameTrailer show and was engaging with Isaac about the Kinect Sports title at the time. It obviously doesn’t form any kind of official announcement from Microsoft, but it will definitely go some distance to raising excitement levels among those hardcore Xbox fans out there. Regardless of when it actually hits our shelves, the new Xbox One is definitely set to welcome in a new generation of entertainment and media within the home.
Gaming titles designed with the Xbox One in mind are set to push the boundaries of what we felt was possible with consoles, and when coupled together with the television based Kinect commands, it is sure to be an almost instant hit with new and old users alike. A state of the art gaming console, an advanced media system and everything in between. There has been quite a lot of talk around the problems users will face with lack of backwards compatibility, and the fact that the device needs to communicate with the internet every twenty-four hours, but we definitely can’t wait for November to come around.
Now, the question remains, will Sony also follow suit and push their console out around the time when the Xbox One hits the shelves? Please leave your thoughts in the comment section below. Also, which console are you getting? Xbox One or the PlayStation 4?
