Microsoft’s Xbox One console is just a few days away from public availability, and the company is bound to make it a success by any means necessary. As if all the promotions and advertisements weren’t enough, now the Redmond company has made a new announcement of free access to select few Xbox One titles on a monthly basis for the subscribers of Xbox LIVE Gold.
According to the announcement, the promotional offer goes in effect starting with 2014.
Through this initiative, the tech giant hopes to expand on not just its Xbox One sales, but also entice more gamers into signing up for Xbox LIVE Gold, which is the premium membership for Microsoft’s service. The announcement also comes as an expansion to the already continuing Games With Gold program from Microsoft, which essentially was introduced as a limited time promotion for Xbox LIVE subscribers along with the release of the redesigned Xbox 360 back in June. GWG started off as an added benefit to the Gold subscription for Xbox LIVE, allowing users access to featured Xbox LIVE Arcade titles, as well as Games on Demand, on a month-by-month basis.
Owing to the huge success of Games With Gold, Microsoft included it indefinitely as a feature for Xbox LIVE Gold subscription, and the move to bring Xbox One under that umbrella clearly indicates that the company sees a lot of potential for success in this marketing campaign, both in the past and in the future.
It’s worth noting that since the program is launching for the new console starting in 2014, not a lot of information is available at this point, except that it will be there and details will be revealed as we move closer to the actual availability.
Microsoft has had a really different marketing approach towards the Xbox One until now. It feels like the company’s pulling all stops to make sure Xbox One is a success. From portraying it as a home entertainment device in the earlier ads and then with the massive ad that was released later last month, showing off the console in its full gaming glory, they’ve got all bases covered. PlayStation 4 went on sale just yesterday, Microsoft has a lot riding on these few days, and the way they’re headed, seems to be favorable. Let’s see what consumers think when the console hits the market Nov. 22.
