Released in 2013, Microsoft has just started rolling out the first system update for the Xbox One for year 2015. For more details on what the update brings to the fore, simply head past the jump.
The February update was earlier released to Preview Program users last month, but it has begun rolling out to the general public as we speak. As put by Microsoft, “We’re always listening to your thoughts and will continue adding new features and improving existing functionality to enhance your gaming and entertainment experiences on Xbox One.”
The improvements in the system update have been targeted at the Xbox One controller, Party Chat, and includes the addition of newer TV features which are “bringing ‘trick play’ and live streaming on Windows Phone and Android to Xbox Live members in Europe using the Digital TV Tuner.” Here is a brief overview of the changes and improvements that the Xbox One will be getting, if you haven’t already received the update.
Controller improvements bring forward a new Quick Connect tech, which allows the gamepad to pair with the console in about two seconds. Those pesky disconnection issues have also been stated as fixed. The update to the controller firmware can be downloaded by connecting it to the console via USB, then heading over to Xbox LIVE, navigating to Menu > Settings > Devices & accessories, and select the controller. Now select Update and you should see the process begin immediately.
Game hubs will allow users to keep tabs on which friends are playing your game, allowing you to compete with them, watch game clips and broadcasts, and even follow top broadcasters and clip creators.
Party Chat has received some significant changes and improvements with a chat connection status, improved connectivity between two or more participants with Strict or Moderate NATs, and game and party invitations. Backgrounds are now more visible with the added transparency setting for the home tiles. As for TV updates, a function for live TV streaming on Windows Phone and Android for Xbox One Digital Tuner owners has also been introduced in the U.K., France, Spain, and Italy.
The complete list of changes are as follows:
The update is rolling out now for everyone as we speak, and if you haven’t received any sort of notification about it yet, then don’t panic, such rollouts usually take time.
