Microsoft has stepped up its game with the Xbox One both in terms of hardware and software, the latter of which is subject to a decent update at regular intervals. As of right now, the April Xbox One update is available to all, featuring a number of improvements, fixes and new implementations. Full details, as ever, can be seen below.
While many of the previous monthly updates have been significant, particularly the last installment, April’s is one of the lesser bumps in recent times. There’s still quite a bit for Xbox One users to mull over, but if you’re a big fan of the console, you’ll find little to write home about on this occasion.
There are some improvements to Party Chat, with new notifications and icons enriching the experience further, while the software giant is also throwing in Game Hub Links helping you find games you may enjoy based on what turns up in your activity feed.
There are also notifications for achievements featuring proper descriptions, so you’ll know exactly what tasks were completed for you to reach the required goal, and the What’s On area has also been pushed to Xbox One users based in the U.S., Canada and the UK.
The What’s On area, as you can probably imagine, offers links to games, movies and other content that may be of some interest, so if you’re always on the hunt for new stuff to watch and enjoy, it’s well worth checking out.
The battle for supremacy in the console arena is well and truly on, and while it’s much too early to call in favor of the Xbox One or Sony’s PlayStation 4, it’s clear that the Japanese company took the early advantage. Sales of the PS4 were very strong during those opening months, which prompted Microsoft to make some big changes, and along with the price-cut that did away with Kinect for those who didn’t require it, these monthly Xbox One updates certainly haven’t harmed the cause.
So, if you are rocking an Xbox One, and want to take advantage of the aforementioned tweaks, be sure to snag this update at the next available opportunity.
