Celebrating Windows 7’s one-year anniversary, Microsoft Netherlands spilled the beans on the expected launch date for Windows 7’s successor. In a blog post on its Dutch website, Microsoft said that Windows 8 is roughly two years away from hitting the market.
Google Translation: Furthermore, Microsoft is of course the next version of Windows. But it will take about two years before "Windows 8" on the market.
Microsoft officials however have declined to comment on the blog posting.
Earlier in June this year, a leaked slide deck on Windows 8 suggested that the next version of Windows will include an App Store for Windows, improved startup and sleep times, and power efficiency enhancements among many other things.
Apple announced a Mac App Store for OS X earlier this week at “Back to the Mac” event. [via CNET]
