You can keep on talking about desktops era being over, iPads and tablets killing Windows based netbooks and notebooks, but you cant deny the fact that Windows 7 is by far the fastest selling OS in the history! and it runs on majority of the notebooks/netbooks and desktop PCs near you.
The numbers are out! and they speak for themselves! According to the official Windows Team Blog:
First off, we are excited to announce that Windows 7 has sold 150 million licenses to-date. As I’ve said before, Windows 7 is the fastest selling operating system in history with 7 copies of Windows 7 sold every second.
… approximately 75% of enterprises are looking at Windows 7 for their organization. That’s amazing! And of course people continue to be excited about the features and benefits of Windows 7, and the PCs that our partners are delivering for Windows 7.
Steve Jobs at WWDC 10 proudly announced that they have sold around 100 million iOS based devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch) in total since the original iPhone launch in 2007. Now compare this to the number of copies which Microsoft has sold of Windows 7 (not all versions of Windows) since October 2009, and you’ll know how good they are doing. Windows as we know is far from dead.
For those of you who don’t know, Windows 7 is the latest client version of Microsoft Windows for PCs and is the successor to Windows Vista. Windows 7 RTM was announced back in July 2009. It is publicly available since the official launch, which was held on October 22nd 2009. [via TechCrunch]
