Windows 10 Fall Creators Update release date has been announced by software giant Microsoft. Here are the details.
Microsoft has used its recent IFA keynote in Berlin, Germany to announce that the highly anticipated Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will be released to compatible PCs starting this coming Tuesday, October 17. The news was given to those in attendance by Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group, who also took the opportunity to dive into the platform’s upcoming features.
This Windows 10 Fall Creators Update hasn’t exactly come out of the blue for those who are invested in the platform and the internal workings of Microsoft. The release process was initially kicked off at the beginning of May and has progressed significantly since then with multiple Insider Previews. Nearly six months later, Microsoft has recently released build number 16278 which will be one of the last few updates in the process before it finally goes out as final.
The name of the update would suggest that the release is going to be heavily focused on the creative individual, but that’s not as much the case as it was with the Spring Creators Update. Microsoft is planning on introducing additional accessibility features with this update, including eye-tracking to assist windows 10 users with Lou Gehrig’s disease. Users will also benefit from new input enhancements thanks to handwriting refinements and having the ability to scroll web pages with a pen.
Microsoft will also be introducing a new set of mixed reality improvements as well which instantly offers additional support for laptops with non-discrete GPUs, which is just in time for new Windows Mixed Reality headsets starting to ship from the company’s OEM partners towards the middle of October. Additional improvements in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update include being able to share with contacts directly through the Share UI, a tweaked design for incoming toast notifications, as well as the ability for pinned contacts to send “pops” which appear as animated emoji on the desktop.
And of course, as you would expect from an update of this nature, there’s much, much more to look forward to. There’s no mention of Windows 10 Mobile update whatsoever, but for those with a compatible desktop or laptop/tablet device, the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will start going through its release process this coming October 17th.
