Microsoft has today released a new build of Windows 10 to Insider Preview members who are in the Fast Ring. Those who are can download Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 15002 now.
The release, which offers the most current build of the ever-growing Creators Update that was revealed in late-2016, was announced in a post over on the official Windows blog and brings with it a whole host of new features, changes to existing features, and fixes. In fact, the post announcing exactly what has changed as part of this particular preview release is a very lengthy one indeed, so this new update is one that those who have access to it will want to download soon. You will, without doubt, come across something new once you do.
We are not going to try and cover everything that has changed in this new preview build – Dona Sarkar over at Microsoft has already done a sterling job of that – but we do want to just highlight a couple of the additions in order to whet your appetite.
Microsoft Edge, for example, has received a raft of changes this time around. Support for a new tab preview bar allows users to see all open tabs in a preview state without leaving what they are doing, and there are new options in the Edge Jump List, which allow you to launch a new regular or InPrivate window right from the app’s Taskbar icon.
There’s support for a new payment request API that should make it easier to spend money with Windows 10, and Microsoft has managed to include improved high-DPI support for desktop apps, too.
Speaking of apps, following feedback from testers that windows were not scaling as they should be, Microsoft has sought to rectify that problem with this update. There’s improved and simplified access to VPN settings and configuration for those who need to connect to a work infrastructure as well, which will be well received by those who make use of such functionality.
We have barely scratched the surface of what Microsoft has changed and added with this update, so be sure to check out the full announcement post over at Microsoft for the complete lowdown.
