It was only a matter of months ago that we brought the simple but extremely functional Webr app to our readers attention and it seems that the software has managed to craft itself a nice little niche on the App Store and has proved extremely popular with users who want to create themselves a personal home on the internet without all of the technical hassle that comes associated with web development. While Webr seems to have gone from strength to strength in the background without causing much fuss or grabbing too many headlines, version 2.0 of the app was recently released, brining lots of new features to the table.
As noted in our first look at the app, the underlying purpose of Webr is to allow users to create, publish and edit dynamic and engaging websites that attempt to go beyond a standard content management system based blog and inject a little bit of personality into the users home on the web. All of this creation and publishing power can be handled directly from the iOS device itself which is a unique feature that takes the hassle out of website creation for a lot of users. For those that want to take things a little further the app now features new themes and layouts options, support for adding videos and audio clips, RSS feed, a couple of in-app purchase options, allowing the user to choose from the Pro or Business Packages, and lots more. Support for the new iPhone 5 has been added. Details after the jump.
The core application itself remains a free of charge download from the App Store with users still able to take advantage of all of the great and powerful features that form part of the main app. In addition, the Pro Package is now a $4.99 upgrade option that brings the ability to add video and music files to a website, easily link an existing Dropbox account to up to three different websites, unlimited bandwidth as well as premium support for those who may need some help using or troubleshooting any of the features.
The Business Package upgrade takes things even further by offering additional customization options in the form of uploading and adding a company, personal or corporate logo to a created site while removing the Webr default logo in the process. The same video and audio file upload applies but the Dropbox account can be linked to five different sites rather than the three that the Pro Package offers. The $19.99 upgrade cost may seem like a premium price to pay, but after using the application for a while and getting used to the features and what it is capable of it seems like a bargain for those who want the hassle removed from website creation.
