Apple has now made watchOS 10 available for download by the public, bringing to an end the months-long beta program that began in June. You can now download the update to your Apple Watch using the Watch app on your iPhone.
The watchOS 10 update was first announced during the WWDC event on June 5 and has been in beta testing ever since.
It isn’t alone of course — Apple announced the software updates for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV at the same event and they’ve been going through their own beta program ever since.
The watchOS 10 update is perhaps one of the biggest that the Apple Watch has ever seen, including redesigned apps, a new Smart Stack view for widgets, and the usual array of new watch faces. The new update also changes how Control Center works — just press the Side button to open Control Center in any app or on the Home Screen.
You can download the new update now by opening the Watch app on your iPhone, choosing General, and then Software Update. Your Apple watch needs to have at least 50% charge and be on the charger at the time for the update to begin.
Buying a new Apple Watch? The Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch Series 9 will both come with watchOS 10 preinstalled from the factory.
