The cheap 4K television market is an interesting one to observe, and Vizio is arguably the king of the makers of sets that have a huge number of pixels, look great and cost little. Keen to not stand still Vizio has today announced a new line of televisions, the 2015 M-Series Ultra HD Full-Array LED Smart TV collection.
Apart from having a ridiculously long name, the sets start at 43-inches and go all the way up to 80 if you have the space for it. No matter which model you do go for though, you’re sure to get some impressive images out of it. With the 43-inch model costing just $600 too, you owe it to yourself to give Vizio at least a cursory glance before taking your hard earned money elsewhere. If you do have somewhere to put it, the 80-inch monster will cost $4,000 which isn’t bad at all. It has the added advantage of being a 4K set that costs $4K too, but maybe we’re easier to please than most.
The technical specifications for the sets include all manner of weird and not-so-wonderful marketing gimmicks which may or may not actually do anything to improve the image you see. Things like “Spatial Scaling Engine to upscale lower resolution content to near 4K Ultra HD picture resolution2, along with Full-Array LED backlighting with up to 32 Active LED Zones,” are great things to put on a marketing flyer. We’d rather see one of these sets in action before we call any of this stuff out as pure marketing though – for all we know some of it might be Vizio’s crown jewel!
