visionOS 2.2 Beta And macOS 15.2 Beta 2 Add Wide And Ultrawide Modes To Mac Virtual Display On Vision Pro

Apple today has released the first beta of visionOS 2.2 and the second beta of macOS 15.2. The new beta seeds bring one highly anticipated feature to Apple Vision Pro.

This feature is “Wide” and “Ultrawide” mode for Mac Virtual Display on Vision Pro, which basically lets you use your Vision Pro as an ultrawide display for your Mac running the latest version of macOS Sequoia or later.

Apple has stated that the ultra-wide Mac Virtual Display is comparable to having two 4K monitors positioned side by side on a desk. Mac Virtual Display offers three sizes in this latest update: Normal, Wide, and Ultrawide.

For those who don’t know, Mac Virtual Display enables Apple’s Vision Pro headset to function as an external display for a Mac. This feature has been available since the initial release of visionOS earlier this year, but the ultra-wide options are new in the latest beta.

It’s important to note that for this to work, you will need both the latest beta versions of visionOS 2.2 and macOS 15.2 running on Vision Pro and Mac, respectively.

Apple is expected to release the final version of visionOS 2.2 and macOS 15.2, alongside iOS 18.2, to the public in December.
