There were strong rumors regarding CDMA version of iPhone 4 before the official unveiling of the said device at WWDC 10. Steve didn’t mention a thing about CDMA version of the iPhone 4 even though there were tons of rumors floating around. And now according to fresh reports from Digitimes, a CDMA version of iPhone 4 will ship in the fourth quarter of this year!
The iPhone 4 is probably one of the most beautiful and powerful smartphone out there! but too bad, it is limited to GSM and 3G (did I mention crappy AT&T ?) networks only. Unlike some of the Android phones which are taking advantage of high 4G speeds on the likes of Sprint (4G capable CDMA network) and Verizon Wireless.
Digitimes claims that Apple has placed a huge order for CDMA version of iPhone 4 from Pegatron Technology which will ship in Q4 of this year. Currently, Verizon is in the list for offering the CDMA iPhone 4 on it’s network. In the United States alone, iPhone has the second largest market share, and that’s for 3G/GSM only! Imagine what will happen if Apple hops on the CDMA bandwagon?
Now the question is; When will Apple make this news official? We already have the powerful Android based EVO 4G on Sprint, Windows Phone 7 is also coming this Christmas, and if a CDMA iPhone 4 is confirmed for Q4, then there’s going to be a huge battle between the tech giants Apple, Google and Microsoft. Exciting times ahead! What do you think? [via 9to5Mac]
