The rate at which the unc0ver jailbreak is progressing is nothing short of breakneck, and that continues with the release of unc0ver v3.0.0 b38 following hot on the heels of b37, a release that brings with it partial 4K support for devices running on iOS 12.
That support is indeed partial, because some issues still remain.
The majority of support for 4K appears to be in place, but that doesn’t mean that it is going to work 100% of the time on 100% of devices.
It seems that the issue is Cydia Substrate related, with some issues being displayed when run on certain 4K devices. However, the good news is that full support for 4K is indeed possible, and on the way.
For now, in its current state, 4K (which includes A7 and A8 powered devices) sort of works.
02/27/2019 – v3.0.0~b37 was released for public testing with the following changes:
- Enable partial 4K (A7/A8) support on iOS 12 to allow setting a nonce and disabling auto updates
- Update the APT lists cache file for repositories
Beta 38 obviously packs all the goodies from b37, and as for the changelog for the latest release, you can see that below:
02/28/2019 – v3.0.0~b38 was released for public testing with the following changes:
- Fix the v1ntex exploit
- Fix a theoretical bug in determining the device support status
- Fix a theoretical bug in the UI
- Update the APT lists cache file for repositories
This seems like a great time to remind everyone that jailbreaking is as much art as it is science. That in turn means that you can expect issues to arise here and there, and that’s especially true considering we are still hurtling through beta releases of unc0ver right now.
Jailbreak if you must, but make sure everything’s all backed up safe and sound before you do. To download the latest unc0ver IPA, head over to github.com/pwn20wndstuff/Undecimus/releases.
