As we told you earlier today, Apple has taken the wraps off its first red iPhone, but it’s no simple colorway. Instead, Apple teamed up with the (Product)Red guys and created a new (Product)Red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus that continue the good work both Apple and the charity has been doing for a good while now.
A portion of the money people hand over for their (Product)Red iPhones will go towards helping find a cure for HIV and AIDS, and that’s always a good thing. The bonus? We get a bright red iPhone, and YouTuber MKBHD has gotten his hands on one.
MKBHD, or Marques Brownlee, is probably the first person on YouTube to be sharing a (Product)Red iPhone 7 Plus video ahead of the device’s official release, which happens on this coming Friday, March 24th.
During that video, we get to see just how gorgeous this iPhone is. The red back of the iPhone is matte, rather than glossy, and that gives it a sort of satin finish that we think is probably the nicest of any iPhone we have ever seen.
It looks that good. Of course, things unfortunately go south when we see the front of the iPhone thanks to Apple’s insistence on using a white front on iPhones that have non-black backs, but there isn’t much we can do about that. If this had a black front, we think we would be more than justified in calling the (Product)Red iPhone the best looking iPhone ever.
Check out the full unboxing and hands-on of the video embedded below for a glimpse at what the new iPhone looks like, as well as a render of what it could have looked like if Apple had thought things through properly. So close, Apple. So close.
