Twitter owner and CEO Elon Musk says that he has found a new CEO to take his place. What’s more, he also says that the new CEO will take the reigns of the company within the next six weeks or so.
Musk didn’t go so far as to say who the new CEO would be, but he did indicate that it would be a woman.
That was closely followed by a report by The Wall Street Journal that NBCUniversal advertising exec Linda Yaccarino was the person picking up after Musk’s somewhat messy stewardship.
“NBCUniversal’s head of advertising, Linda Yaccarino, is in talks to become the new CEO of Twitter, according to people familiar with the situation,” the WSJ report begins.
Ms. Yaccarino, chairman of global advertising and partnerships at NBCU, has been with NBCU for more than a decade, where she has been an industry advocate for finding better ways to measure the effectiveness of advertising. As head of NBCU’s advertising sales, she was key in the launch of the company’s ad-supported Peacock streaming service.
That would perhaps suggest that Musk will want Twitter to focus on ad revenue moving forward, something that is particularly interesting given the Twitter Blue subscription he has focused on to date actually removes ads from people’s feeds.
Musk had promised to step down as Twitter CEO after running a poll that asked what people thought.
