The official Twitter app has, on both iOS and Android, been subject to much improvement just recently, and with the iPhone 5 quickly following iOS 6 in terms of general release, said Twitter app has just been updated, and is now fully compatible with new software and device alike.
Unlike the MacBook Pro with Retina display – which only just this week saw its new screen supported my Microsoft’s Office for Mac – developers of iOS apps seem a lot more in tune, and the updates for the new display – as well as exciting new features like Passbook – are coming in thick and fast.
Twitter’s official iOS app recently became a much more agreeable affair on the Cupertino’s flagship iPad tablet – pushing the version number up to the magical 5.0 – and in order to optimize its services across the board, version 5.0.1 should work seamlessly on iOS 6, as well as the new iPhone 5.
As well as being bigger, and offering more real estate than ever before, the new display of the iPhone 5 sits at a 16:9 aspect ratio, so as well as the device being more powerful thus adept device for gaming and watching movies, the new display certainly pushes the boundaries once more.
Although some most certainly prefer the bold, brash displays pushing (and exceeding) the 5-inch mark, Apple’s design means the device can still be held in one hand, and consumers will still be able to squirrel their device away into their pockets without a problem.
Apps like Twitter will benefit greatly from the elongated screen, so it’s no surprise to see the app update pushed out so promptly. Less scrolling will need to be done to keep up with the latest tweets and trends, and of all the apps I can think of, social apps like Twitter and Facebook strike me as two which seem made for a long display.
The Universal app is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, and you can grab it right now via the direct link provided below.
