Twelve South makes some of the most loved and best designed accessories for Macs and iOS devices around, and the company even makes a range of Apple Watch accessories. It’s no surprise to anyone that the company’s newest product, the ActionSleeve for Apple Watch is the kind of thing that is so obvious, we wonder why it’s taken almost two years for someone to come up with it.
Designed for all versions of Apple Watch, the ActionSleeve is an armband for the wearable. Wearing iPhones and iPods on the arm is nothing new for athletes because it offers somewhere to keep a device during exercise but also ensures it’s always accessible as well.
You’d think that the Apple Watch’s status as a watch would cover those bases, but as Twelve South points out, wearing the device on your wrist isn’t always the optimal solution: “The Apple Watch is the most advanced health & fitness device ever, but the wrist is not always the perfect place to wear it. Sports like Kickboxing, Weightlifting and CrossFit often require protective sports gear and full wrist mobility that can rule out the use of Apple Watch on the wrist.”
The theory is sound, and if you participate in activities during which having a watch on your wrist is simply not possible, the ActionSleeve may be just what you didn’t realize you need!
At $29 each and available in red and black color options – unless you want the 42mm slim version, which is only available in black – the ActionSleeve may be the sleeper hit of Apple Watch accessories.
Twelve South even believes that having the Apple Watch so close to the skin when inside the ActionSleeve might actually make its health measurements more accurate.
Whether that’s true or not, we think Twelve South might be onto a winner here.
