tvOS 17.4 jailbreak dubbed Palera1n for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD has been announced. Here are the details.
The new jailbreak was announced in a post on the X social network and we’re told it makes use of a “custom rootful bootstrap on real filesystem”.
Additionally, the people behind the jailbreak also noted that “tweak injection also works”. In terms of compatible software, tvOS 15 through tvOS 17.4 work with the jailbreak right now while the team also confirmed that jailbroken Apple TV devices can also run the Spartan app — a tvOS file browser that was built in swiftUI and allows people to browse the storage of Apple’s streaming devices.
Jailbreaking the Apple TV is of course not for those who don’t like diving into these things and the scene isn’t as vibrant as the iPhone one.
But if you’re someone who does like to be able to jailbreak their devices and you happen to have an older Apple TV handy, this news will no doubt be well received.

As for the iPhone, there’s no news there — the latest iPhones cannot be jailbroken and those older models that can be jailbroken do not support the latest versions of iOS. The result is that there is no way to jailbreak an iPhone 15, for example, nor is there a way to jailbreak any device running the latest versions of Apple’s iPhone software.
