Following the news that Donald Trump will take over as president of the United States early next year he has spent the last few days confirming who will take on the country’s top jobs once that happens.
There have been a few surprises as part of the restructuring, not least the news that a former FOX TV anchor will be in charge of the country’s defense. But for some, the more interesting news might be that Tesla CEO Elon Musk is also getting involved.
According to a statement by Trump Musk will work with Vivek Ramaswamy and the pair will “lead the Department of Government Efficiency (“DOGE”).” And yes, that’s a reference to Musk’s Dogecoin in a press release published by the incoming president of the United States.
I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (“DOGE”). Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies – Essential to the “Save America” Movement. “This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!” stated Mr. Musk.
Musk had previously claimed that he would be able to cut at least $2 trillion from government spending. However, some have warned that such a move could impact critical infrastructure and more, not least the country’s defense budget.
Musk and Ramaswamy have until July 4th, 2026, to get the job done.
