It takes a lot to be able to lead someone, to inspire and to change lives, and even more for corporations to do it. Yet, in today’s world, Apple has done it, and it all started not long before 2007, when the company unveiled the first iPhone to the world and changed everything – smartphones, at least – as we know it today. In an internal memo today, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, reflected on what the company has been able to achieve in 2013, and their outlook for the upcoming next year. If it says anything, Apple is full of hopes for a better future.
Tim starts off his letter to Apple’s employees by reflecting on how they’ve been able to touch the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.
This holiday season, tens of millions of people around the world, from all walks of life, are experiencing Apple products for the first time. Those moments of surprise and delight are magical, and they’re all made possible by your hard work. As many of us prepare to celebrate the holidays with our loved ones, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on what we’ve achieved together over the past year.
Cook goes on to talk about what Apple has achieved in 2013, and how many successful milestones they’ve attained. He talks about iOS 7 being an extraordinarily ambitious project, and how the USA-assembled Mac Pro made him proud. The fact that OS X Mavericks was released as a free upgrade to customers, and the availability of iLife for free with new iOS devices are all things that make Apple what it is today, combined with the 50 billion downloads from App Store and the amazing new iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display. It goes without saying; Tim Cook is proud of the Apple family.
The letter further goes on to talk about the corporate initiatives that Apple took during 2014, the contributions that it made to charitable causes and to make the world a better place, and what 2014 holds for the fruit company, where he adds, “We have a lot to look forward to in 2014, including some big plans that we think customers are going to love.” You can read the full text at the source link below.
From a personal perspective, I can tell you that this time of the year, every employee is looking forward to such a letter of recognition, and encouragement, and hopes for the future, from the top level.
Coming back to my earlier point, it takes a lot to make a difference, and Apple, as it may appear, is bent on making it in not just the lives of its customers, but also, for people that make it happen.
