Apple CEO Tim Cook has been interviewed by Dua Lipa as part of the BBC Sounds series, with the pair discussing a range of things including how much people use their phones.
That subject saw Tim Cook admit that the current Screen Time feature came about because of a time when Cook realized that the volume of notifications he received was too high, with Cook saying that “the aha moment for me was how many notifications I was getting in a day.”
The result, Cook says, is that people need to make sure that they are aware of how much time they spend on their phones and then moderate it.
During the conversation, we learn more about Cook’s younger years, including the fact that he used to deliver papers during the night. Cook’s personal life has remained a closely guarded one and this is a rate insight into the man running arguably the world’s most influential company.
Cook also discussed coming out as Gay in 2014, being the only gay CEO of a Fortune 500 company at the time. He goes on to say that there are still roadblocks in place for members of the gay community as well as women, something that companies have been working on correcting in recent years including Apple.
