A new app from the audio/visual geniuses at THX promises to help budding home cinema enthusiasts to make the most out of the kit they’ve got, potentially taking their movie watching experiences to new heights in the process.
THX has long been the leading name in home cinema, with its iconic logo signifying quality in an arena where only the best will do. If you’re a home cinema fan, or know someone who is, then you’re no doubt sat nodding your head round about now.
It just so happens that those who are into their home cinema kit, be that big, flat screen televisions or the very best in audio gear, tend to also be the kind of people that like other kinds of technology too. That’s why the folks over at THX have decided that the iPhone and iPad would be ideal vehicles to allow the company to help home cinema fans to make the very best they can out of their TVs, sound systems and projectors that they have.
When you’ve spent thousands of dollars on a home cinema, calibrating it is vitally important, and the new THX tune-up app, available on the App Store now, lets users do just that.
The app itself is a one-stop shop for home cinema calibration. We’ve got features that let users adjust their TV or projector just so, making the very best they can out of all the pixels at their disposal. There are options that mean that last little bit of sound quality can be eaked out of any set of speakers, too, and untold extras await those willing to go that little bit further in the pursuit of audio and visual perfection.
Test cards, test audio and all manner of calibration materials await inside the THX app for iOS, and we suspect it will become invaluable as people begin to use it. DVDs and Blu-ray discs are always popular when they promise to help users get the most bang for their buck, and we suspect this little iOS app will be no different.
Oh, and did we mention that it’s super cheap? And by cheap, we mean free. You can’t argue with a price like that folks!
