This Smartwatch Has The Looks Of Moto 360, Is Compatible To Work With iPhone

A new smartwatch from Alcatel is making waves at the CES 2015 in Las Vegas, and many are drawing comparisons to the premium Moto 360 from Motorola. What makes this smartwatch this interesting? Head on after the jump for further details on this gadget.

Details of this smartwatch were first revealed by Alcatel just a few days back where the company touted the watch as a device that will create "a new market segment: the affordable smart watch". The watch is not your typical notification pusher, and has features aplenty for everyone, and that too with a price tag that will not push you into emptying your pockets.

Coming in at a mere $149, the watch carries the Moto 360 look, albeit being slightly smaller than the premium priced wearable. Akin to the Moto 360 which carries a round display, this wearable from Alcatel is going with a display that is slightly cut off from the bottom, while the rest of the area acts as a semi-active responsive surface. The Moto 360 does the same as well and while this manages to solve a few interaction problems, the offering from Alcatel loses out more rows of pixel than what some may be ok with.

Now that you’ve heard the price, let’s head onto some of the features and functions to truly put the price tag into perspective. Oh and the smartwatch is compatible with your iOS device as well, in-case you were starting to take it for an Android only wearable. The watch is not running the Android Wear and is instead using Alactel’s own proprietary OS which – to be honest – is not that appealing. There’s a cluster of neatly laid out icons than can be scrolled horizontally, but at best it’s an effort to remember each icon’s purpose.

This smartwatch from Alcatel is powered by a STM429 chipset and has a 210 mAh battery, which apparently should give the device a neat 2 days of standby time. Coupled with a strand that has an integrated USB plug on one side, the watch is also carrying a gyroscope, e-compass, accelerometer, altimeter, heart-rate sensor, a vibration motor, and also comes packaged with NFC.

Now that you understand what the device is capable of offering for your smartwatch needs, remember the $149 price tag, and you won’t really care much for how it may lack that premium feel like the Moto 360, the LG G Watch R, Pebble smartwatch and the upcoming Apple Watch.
