You may or may not have heard of WTFJeans, a small start-up operating out of Zagreb, Croatia. The company was applauded for thinking out of the box four years ago when it launched a range of jeans that were marketed as being “iPhone friendly” thanks to the inclusion of a specifically designed microfiber lined pocket. We’re now four years down the line, and although we are yet to see any pairs of WTFJeans making it onto the catwalk during Paris Fashion Week, the company behind the product has just launched a revamped lineup that offers additional appeal to iPhone owners.
We’re not entirely sure if it’s even possible to “upgrade” a pair of trousers, but if it is then WTFJeans have just done it. The main selling point of the denim trousers is still the simple but effective microfiber lined pocket that is the perfect size for both the 3.5 and 4-inch iPhone models. In addition to keeping the iOS device snug and scratch-free, the lining of the pocket goes a step further by actually assisting in cleaning the display of the smartphone when it’s removed from the pocket. It’s truly a miraculous age that we live in.
Pedja Puselja, the founder of the project, claims that his product introduces an even cooler feature that has never been seen before in an item of clothing. The latest iteration of the jeans is coated in a nano-layer that not only sounds extremely awesome, but also protects the denim and the housed iPhone from light rain and liquid spills. Finally, a pair of fashionable jeans that really works for the modern man or woman. The innovative protective layer also goes a long way to protecting the garment from being destroyed if they come into contact with liquids such as wine or oil.
The latest iteration of the WTFJeans proves that jeans can be visually appealing, fashionable and kind to our gadgets, which leaves us to wonder why none of the large fashion houses have adopted this approach with their wares.
Purchasers of the third-generation jeans will also benefit from a unique radiation shield that fits nicely in the lined pocket between the iPhone and the wearer to offer peace of mind to those who are conscious about the radiation that smartphones give off.
These jeans can definitely be placed firmly into the “weird” product category, but if you’re an iPhone owner with $175 to spare then head over to WTFJeans.com to check them out.
