Weather is a funny old thing, unless you happen to be caught up in the middle of it. There’s nothing worse than the best laid plans being ruined by some unseasonal rain, or perhaps even unseasonal sunshine! The iOS App Store is literally flooded (bad pun!) with weather apps as far as the eye can see – some are good, some are bad, even more are downright abysmal.
Radar Cast Pro could be towards the top end of that scale.
Well, that is assuming you happen to live in the United States because, oddly for a weather app, Radar Cast Pro is a US-only affair. But it’s perhaps not all that odd when you think about it, or when you look at what the app actually does. Perhaps calling it a weather app does it a disservice, and here’s why.
Rather than take the approach to weather that other alternatives do, and offering up a five day forecast couple with some fancy artwork, Radar Cast Pro delves deeper into what weather actually is. If you happen to live in an area where thunderstorms or extreme weather are all too common, this may be the app for you thanks to its highly detailed radar images, showing exactly where weather will be affecting places that matter to you. Want to know what is going on at your parents’ house? Radar Cast Pro can send you a push notification before it starts raining there, or you can check whether that lightning strike was a little too close for comfort.
There are far too many individual features for us to cover here, so the best thing to do is head on over to the app’s App Store page and check it out for yourself. If you’re wondering, yes it does also do the boring stuff, so you can get that five day forecast if you really must. But if you want detailed weather maps and analysis, then Radar Cast Pro is well worth checking out right now, especially considering its current 50% off on sale.
At less than $1.99, even if you only have a passing interest in the weather and how it affects those around us, then Radar Cast Pro should be top of your list. We just wish it was available internationally, too.
