Although a lot of great concept products are thrown out by very talented designers on a regular basis, every now and then, we feature one that really rocks our socks, leaving us drooling and pining at the very same moment.
Well today, folks, we have a little treat in store. Remember when Steve Jobs proclaimed he had "cracked" the photography market? Well, designer Choi Jinyoung has taken that idea into consideration, and in turn created a fantastic concept product that would leave even the most upmarket models from Canon and Nikon quaking on their tripods.
It incorporates the rumored 4.5-inch edge-to-edge display in a very complete looking device. There’s a 1.2-megapixel 3D camera, a mount for variable DSLR lenses, a removable hard disk and an on-board projector system. Sound good? Take a look:
As a refresher, the late, great Steve Jobs mentioned some time ago that he had finally cracked the code of three key new markets. One was textbooks, which we’ve seen evidence of with iTunes U, one was television, and the other was photography. While the rumor mill still hasn’t decided where Apple will go with television, it seems we’re also none the wiser regarding photography.
The iPhone 4S – the fruit company’s current flagship smartphone – packs in a rather impressive 8 mega-pixel snapper, but when Apple had its Eureka moment, they surely didn’t mean a simple upgrading of the lens. As the tech world has speculated, Apple could capitalize on its popularity among photo-enthusiasts and bring some meaty hardware to accompany its iPhone – turning it into a full-on camera with all the bells and whistles.
Aside from the extras, the device itself depicts a nice concoction of both the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4(S), combining very obvious elements of each.
This concept is very similar to that of resident designer Antonio De Rosa, who produced an equally impressive take on Apple’s iPhone endeavors with his wonderful iCam concept back in November.
What do you guys think of this, then? We absolutely love it here at Redmond Pie, and if Apple were to follow this motif with, say, the next iPhone, we’d be unable to resist.
