One of our favorite scanning apps for iOS has just gone completely free, down from its usual price of $1.99. With the latest update also bringing some interface tweaks in-keeping with the flatter look of iOS 7, it’s arguably the complete package, and if you’ve been looking for a simple, convenient and functional way to scan your documents in using your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, then it’s your lucky day!
It’s often the case that an app drops to free in order to achieve revenue via in-app purchases instead, which can sometimes sting the user for more money. However, in the case of ABBYY FineScanner, the app remains fully functional, with no ads and most importantly, no nagging limitations on how many operations you can perform in any given amount of time.
Mobile devices have revolutionized the way we work with documents. Not only is there much less paperwork nowadays as files are distributed, shared and collaborated on through cyberspace and its various cloud-based platforms, but the prevalence of apps like FineScanner mean that when we do have paper documents, we can use our smartphone or tablet’s camera to digitize them for safekeeping and general convenience.
The great thing about FineScanner is that you don’t even have to take a face-on, accurate snap of your document. As long as the content is clear and not blurry, you can readily crop and rotate the image into a more digestible piece of media, which can then be viewed, edited and shared as you wish. These features could prove essential in instances such as leaving a meeting or conference, when needing to quickly take note of a memo or somesuch, and let’s face it, digital is just, well… better.
It works for all devices running on iOS 7, although is optimized for the iPhone. The better your camera, the better results you’re likely to get, but since every iOS device made in the past couple of years packs a respectable rear-facing snapper, FineScanner will readily enable you to scan anything in without so much as a hitch.
