Apple announced plenty of new features for its upcoming iOS 17 update that will be released to the world this fall, but not all of them will be ready for launch day.
As is becoming the norm for Apple, a number of its new features won’t launch when iOS 17 lands in or around September.
That didn’t stop Apple from showing them off during its WWDC 2023 event on June 5 of course.
Here’s what you’ll have to wait a little longer for.
- Journal — This new journaling app will automatically suggest things that could be turned into a journal entry, but it isn’t going to be ready in time for September.
- New AirDrop Features — Apple announced that AirDrop will gain new features like being able to quickly share your contact details. Another feature will see AirDrop file transfers continue over the internet if a local connection fails. But none of this will be ready for September, with the features listed as coming “later this year.”
- Collaborative Apple Music Playlists — Being able to create and then edit an Apple Music playlist among a group of friends or family members is something that got a lot of people excited when iOS 17 was announced on June 5, but it won’t launch alongside the software update. That’s also coming “later this year,” so let’s hope it won’t be too long before it’s available.
Apple is expected to release iOS 17 to the public in September after a months-long beta process that is already underway.
