These Emojis Could Arrive On iPhone In 2024

The latest draft emoji candidates have been shared for the first time with a Lime, a Head Shaking Vertically, and a Phoenix Bird just three of those that could be approved by the Unicode body this September.

The new emojis are joined by a collection of new direction-based ones, Emojipedia writes. Other potential additions include new gender-neutral family emojis and more.

Other inclusions on the Emoji 15.1 draft list alongside the Lime, a Head Shaking Vertically, and a Phoenix Bird, as well as four new gender-neutral family emojis intended to be represented via silhouettes like the current 👤Bust in Silhouette and 👥Busts in Silhouette emojis.

As always, the draft emojis are only examples of what could be released and we can expect companies like Apple and Samsung to continue to create their own unique versions instead of using the same as everyone else.

However, the creations shown by Emojipedia do look pretty excellent and we can only hope that the ones that are shipped on devices next year look half as good.

There’s no guarantee that any of these emojis will be approved by Unicode of course, but Emojipedia does note that changes to the final draft list have not happened in recent years so it’s likely that this list will be what gets the thumbs-up in September.
