Getting apps for free is all well and good, but they’re usually either full of in-app purchases or just not very good. What’s really great is when a paid-for app goes free for a limited time, because not only do users get apps for free, but the developers also get some added publicity as well as the chance to get a healthy bump up those all-important Apple App Store rankings.
So yeah, we like apps that shouldn’t be free, but are for a limited time. Which is why we’re going to tell you about nine that we’ve come across very recently that would have cost you a bit of money not too long ago and, if you wait too long, probably will in the future too.
Why wouldn’t you download them now while they’re free?
ICOON global picture dictionary ($0.99 – FREE / iPhone and iPad)
Phrase books are OK, and iOS apps that take those phrase books and turn them into apps are good. What’s great though is an app that does the translating for you, but takes its cues from logos rather than you having to type anything. That’s ICOON, and it’s sold very well in book-form before now, and it’s just as good in the digital realm, too.

Enpass Password Manager ($4.99 – FREE / iPhone and iPad)
Security is important these days, so having all your online accounts live behind the same, weak password is never a good idea. That’s why apps and services that put all your strong passwords in one place and then makes accessing them as easy as pie are all the rage. Enpass is one such app, and it allows cross-device syncing using Dropbox or iCloud, so you can take your passwords with you.

MagicalPad HD ($3.99 – FREE / iPad)
MagicalPad HD is one of those apps that we can’t really explain here.
