Tesla has brought the Model 3 Long Range with rear-wheel drive back to the lineup, adding a new option towards the bottom end of the lineup for those who want to go that route.
The new/returning model will be available for $42,490 the Tesla website says, with the EV capable of an EPA-estimated range of 363 miles.
This new entry of course features the recent Highland redesign and a new price that makes it the second-cheapest version of the Model 3 currently available. The original Long Range RWD model was launched in 2019 before being discontinued a couple of years later.
This trim means that there is now a $5,000 saving over the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive Long Range Model 3, although it’s $3,500 more expensive than the standard-range RWD model.
The addition of around 100 miles of range is of course the key factor here and that would likely be beneficial to those who want to spend as little as possible but also want to try and avoid the range anxiety associated with lower figures.
The Verge also notes that the $7,500 federal EV tax credit means that this vehicle will reach the $3,500 mark that Tesla had originally aimed the Model 3 for when it was launched in 2017, another key factor here.
The rest of the specs for this model include a 125mph top speed and a 0-60 time of a little less than five seconds.
