It seems like an eternity ago when Apple took to the stage to introduce us to the iPad mini as well as a number of other products including the new revamped range of iMacs. After seeing Apple introduce the iPad mini, the fourth-generation iPad and a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, it was music to the ears of desktop lovers when the restyled 21.5 and 27-inch iMac models were introduced, featuring a new slim design as well as a number of hugely important and impressive internal specification changes. Apple has now officially announced that the 21.5-inch variant of the new iMac will be available to purchase this coming Friday.
November 30th, this Friday, will see the latest iMac go on sale and represents the eighth iteration of the computer which Apple believe has changed the face of desktop computing. When the company announced the new iPhone 5, it was dubbed as being the "best thing to happen to the iPhone since the iPhone" with these latest iMac models being referred to as the "most beautiful iMacs we have ever made" by Phil Schiller who operates as the company’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. The larger 27-inch iMac model is reportedly still on track to be released in December, in line with the announcements made in October.
It has now been four weeks since customers have been able to purchase any iMac from the Apple online store, and customers will be eagerly looking forward to get their hands on the initial 21.5-inch model that will come with either a 2.7GHz or 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor. The lower specification model will come with 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive, and will be available for $1299. The higher specification 2.9GHz model will carry a $1499 price-tag and has the added option to swap out the standard hard drive to be replaced with the new Apple Fusion Drive that offers the combined performance of standard and SSD drives.
One of the most notable things about the new range of iMacs is the aesthetic redesign that the machine has benefited from. The new iMacs will ship with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion installed, comes with a HD FaceTime camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and a thinner form factor thanks to the engineering changes with the LED display.
