The iPhone 17 Pro Might Finally Get A Charging Feature That’s Been Rumored For Years

The iPhone 16 Pro has only been around for a few months, but attentions have very much turned to what comes next. That’ll be the iPhone 17 Pro and, if expectations are right, it’ll arrive in September of this year.

And if the rumors are true, it’ll finally have a feature that iPhone owners have been begging for.

That feature is of course reverse wireless charging, a feature that has been rumored to be part of past iPhone launches only for it to not materialize. Now, a new leak claims that 2025 is the year things will change, although we’ll have to wait and see before we get too excited this time around.

This leak comes via 9to5Mac which claims that its sources believe Apple is working on a more advanced version of wireless charging that is being tested alongside the iPhone 17 Pro. This also matches a similar report by Instant Digital on the Chinese social network, Weibo.

If the feature does ship it will allow owners of those iPhones to wirelessly charge their AirPods and Apple Watches, while other phones will also likely be charged if required as well.

Apple has tested the 7.5W reverse charging function on the iPhone 17 Pro. I don’t know if it will be opened for use this time.

Wireless charging might be new to iPhone owners, but it isn’t a new feature for the smartphone market. Many Android phone makers already offer similar features and have done for years now, something that has left Apple playing catchup.
