The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro families of devices will be announced later this year if everything goes the way that we expect and we can expect improvements across the lineup.
But according to a new report the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in particular will benefit from new and improved displays.
Those displays, according to a new ETNews report, will be made by Samsung Display and feature an all-new M14 material design that will enhance the brightness characteristics of the new Pro iPhones. We’re also told to expect that these displays will boast increased longevity, too.
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max won’t be the only phones to use the new displays, we’re told, with Google’s Pixel 9 also set to benefit from the advanced display technology.
Previous reports had suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro would be capable of around 20% higher typical SDR brightness than the iPhone 15 Pro, and that could match well with the information being shared about the capabilities of the M14 displays.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max this coming September around the same time that the iOS 18 software is released to the public.
If everything goes according to Apple’s previous release cadence we can also expect that the new iPhones will be released alongside the rumored Apple Watch X and a refreshed version of the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
