Buying an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max could be about to get very expensive indeed. That’s according to a new report by one analyst who backs up previous claims by others suggesting a price hole of up to $200 could be in the cards.
DigiTimes senior analyst Luke Lin believes that a “major price hike” is in the cards.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to remain largely unchanged in terms of price, but that isn’t likely to be the case for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The likely cause of the price increase is thought to be the move to a new titanium construction as well as the addition of a new periscope camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. That camera is expected to offer new zoom capabilities of up to 6x.
Lin believes the pricing of the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will not see much of a change from the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, but the Pro series is likely to suffer from a major price hike because of the chassis upgrades from stainless steel to titanium and the periscope lens upgrade, which is only for the Pro Max, for performing 5-6x optical zoom.
Apple is expected to announce the new iPhones during an event that has already been confirmed for September 12. If that’s the case, we expect Apple to then make the new iPhones available for preorder on September 15 before putting them on sale on September 22.
