Buyers of this year’s best iPhones could be paying up to $200 more than they did last year, according to a new report.
We’ve heard rumors that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would cost more than previous models already, but as we get closer to the big unveiling next month it’s becoming increasingly clear that might actually be the case. The more sources that say prices are going up, the hardware it is to imagine that not happening.
The latest report comes via a paywalled DigiTimes post seen by MacRumors which claims that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be at least $100 more than the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. But they could cost even more.
The iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1,099. DigiTimes’ forecast places the price of the iPhone 15 Pro at $1,099 to $1,199 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max at $1,199 to $1,299.
With smartphone sales continually under pressure in a saturated market it could be an interesting move for Apple to actually increase prices when some might assume that slashing prices is a better approach. However, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are both expected to use a new titanium construction that could well mean they cost more to produce.
We’ll find out for sure soon enough — Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro series of devices as soon as September 12.
