If you’re using the Apple Weather app on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch you probably already noticed that you aren’t seeing the data that you might otherwise expect to.
That’s because the app is suffering an outage, with the intermittent issue having now been running for a number of hours.
People have been reporting that the Weather app won’t display data for their location since last night, with information no longer available for those who want to see the weather forecast. Apple’s service status webpage does admit that there is an issue, but it appears to suggest that it’s only affecting Alaska and that next-hour precipitation is the only thing affected.
Apple goes on to blame a data provider outage for the problem, but it isn’t clear if that’s related to the issue that people are reporting online and across social media.
For now, there isn’t an awful lot that people can do to get the Weather app to work again. There are other means of checking the weather forecast of course, with plenty of websites and third-party apps available in the App Store.
Hopefully Apple or its third-party data provider will be able to get things back up and running sooner rather than later. In the meantime, just hope that it isn’t going to rain the next time you set foot outside your front door.
