Apple is now roundly expected to be readying an updated Apple Watch Ultra for release alongside the Apple Watch Series 9 in September, and it sounds increasingly likely that the wearable will come in a funky new color.
We’d already heard from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman that Apple had considered a darker Apple Watch before it was released last year.
The idea was ultimately canned in favor of the lighter silver color, but it sounds increasingly likely that the darker one will be offered in 2023.
Alongside Gurman’s musings that might be the case, today saw Twitter leaker ShrimpApplePro throw further fuel on the fire, saying that Apple would add a new black titanium option to the Apple Watch Ultra. That will apparently come alongside the existing silver one, so we’ll have to Apple Watch Ultra colors for the first time.
Other changes to the overall Apple Watch Ultra look aren’t expected, however. Instead, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is expected to look the same as the previous model, notwithstanding the new darker color option.
September is already shaping up to be a big month for Apple. Alongside the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch Series 9, the company is also expected to announce two new iPhone 15 models as well as two iPhone 15 Pro handsets. New iPads and potentially even new Macs could arrive in the following weeks also.
