The Apple Car Will Reportedly Be Fully Autonomous Without A Driver

The Apple Car is the hot topic of the month right now and we’ve seldom seen it get as much attention as it is right now.

Project Titan as it’s called inside Apple, is more real than ever and a new report by CNBC suggests that not only is Kia set to build the cars but that they’ll be fully autonomous as well.

In a new, lengthy report citing unnamed sources, the word from CNBC is that the Apple Car will be fully autonomous, allowing it to function completely without a driver at the wheel.

“The first Apple Cars will not be designed to have a driver,” said one source with knowledge of the current plan. “These will be autonomous, electric vehicles designed to operate without a driver and focused on the last mile.” That could mean Apple cars, at least initially, could focus on package food delivery operations and firms incorporating robotaxis.

While Tesla is currently pushing the envelope in terms of self-driving technology, even Elon Musk’s company is still some way away from having a car that can drive itself 100% of the time.

Apple’s keenness to make sure Apple Car can manage something that hasn’t been done so far might suggest why it’s taking so long to design – and it could also suggest that we might still have to wait a good few years before it’s ready for the roads.

Or, indeed, whether the roads – and laws – are ready for it.
