Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Package Is Increasing To $12,000 Starting January 17

Tesla has announced that the cost of its Full Self-Driving package (FSD) is going to increase to $12,000 from January 17.

The move will also happen to take place around the same time that FSD Beta 10.9 will be released to those using the current beta.

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, made the announcement via Twitter and it’s sure to be a controversial one. The FSD price has gradually increased and increased, despite the fact that the package still doesn’t actually allow FSD capabilities. This is the first price increase that the program has seen since the FSD betas began to roll out, however.

In terms of the beta itself, the new price increase should land around the time beta 10.9 is also made available. Another big update, version 11, will arrive in around a month according to Musk.

Beta 10.9 should be ready in about a week. Beta 11 with single city/highway software stack & many other architectural upgrades probably next month.

It’s worth noting that the FSD beta is only available to people who have paid their money and also happen to have a “drier safety score” of more than 97, so it isn’t available to everyone. It isn’t clear whether that will remain the case through the rest of the beta program, however.
