Tesla has officially opened its very first V4 Supercharger in Harderwijk, the Netherlands. The new Supercharger is open to the public and can be used to charge Tesla and other electric vehicles.
The site itself has 16 Superchargers available and they all have longer cables to make it easier to charge non-Tesla vehicles that might have their charging port in an awkward location.
NotaTeslaApp notes that the new V4 Superchargers are all capable of higher voltage charging and have wider stalls than usual, all to ensure that non-Tesla cars can get in and out and be charged. It hasn’t been confirmed for this particular Supercharger location but it may have up to a 300kW output.
While this Supercharger is in the Netherlands, we’re expecting them to roll out internationally with Europe kicking things off.
Tesla had initially intended to place the V4 Superchargers near Danvers, Massachusetts, but the company has chosen to give Europe priority for EVs that aren’t made by Tesla. So now, non-Tesla vehicles may use more than half of the Superchargers in Europe. In North America, where the test rollout is only getting started, the new Supercharger infrastructure is also being implemented, with ten stations first being set up.
Being able to charge your non-Tesla electric vehicle at a Tesla Supercharger is a big deal of course, and these upgraded Superchargers make the experience even better. Here’s to hoping the new V4 roll out quickly.
