Tesla’s Cheapest Model S And Model X Variants Will Now Deliver In 2023

Anyone wanting to buy the cheapest Model S or Model X car from Tesla will be waiting all the way through to 2023 before they can take delivery.

The long delivery estimates are thanks to a few factors, not least the rising popularity of Tesla and its cars right now.

However, part of the issue is a problem that all car manufacturers are dealing with as of today — a huge production shortfall caused by the worldwide semiconductor shortage.

As Electrek notes, making some configuration changes allows the cars to come a little more quickly, but even then you’re still likely to be waiting around a year if you place an order right now. Things that change the delivery window include paint colors, types of wheels, and more.

Notably, anyone buying the Model S Plaid can get their new supercar next month, no matter what wheels or color they select.

They’ll need to hand over $130,000 to get their car, though. It’s unlikely that’s an option that many will take just to be able to get their car sooner.

Anyone wanting a Model X Plaid is still going to be waiting until August 2022 at the very best, although that, like all of Tesla’s delivery estimates, is open to variability.
