Tesla could soon allow people to get service on their vehicles carried out within the same hour, with CEO Elon Musk saying that he is working on using “Formula 1 pit crew techniques” to make it possible.
Tesla service has been a sore point for some customers thanks to the unique nature of the way the company works with regards to local dealerships and service centers.
Now, Musk has taken to Twitter to say that F1 ideas could soon allow for more speedy repairs when required.
Excited to work with Tesla Service to enable same-hour service as often as possible! Applying Formula 1 pit crew techniques to Teslas.
Electrek notes that Tesla has been trying to focus on improving service in recent months, with Musk having already said that the company was aiming to make most appointments into same-day repairs, rather than anything longer that could require drivers to be without their cars for a prolonged period of time. However, Musk hasn’t gone into details about how any of this will actually happen.
Tesla has previously been embroiled in controversy following the news that the company was having untrained personnel work on cars due to a shortage of trained staff members.
How all of this will shake out and whether same-day or same-hour repairs will become the norm or not remains to be seen. Musk has a history of making grand promises and not following through with them, of course.
